Traditional Design
The hogan is constructed using natural Juniper logs and is influenced by classic Navajo architectural forms. Its thick earthen walls serve to moderate interior temperatures, keeping the space approximately 15 degrees cooler during the summer and providing warmth on winter nights.
Quiet and Privacy
Set apart from development, the hogan offers guests expansive views of the monument landscape. The location allows for clear night skies, making it ideal for stargazing, and provides the peaceful stillness characteristic of the high desert environment.

What The Guests Say
“Beautiful and traditional place to stay right in the heart of Monument Valley. Peaceful, authentic, and very comfortable. Verna is a kind and welcoming host who shared inspiring stories about her people and the land. A unique experience — we hope to return one day!”
~ Ales Cernosek
We were looking to spend a night inside the Monument Valley in a traditional Hogan, far from the touristy places. We were lucky enough to spot Verna’s accommodations from Google Maps and it was the best chance we could have hoped for.
We found ourselves immersed within the Valley, surrounded by silence, rocks and an incredibly starred sky, that made us very emotional. Verna was extremely welcoming, sharing with us curiosities about the Navajo traditions, her family and how these structures are made. The Hogan itself was curated, tidy, comfy and very warm throughout the whole night.
It was a true blessing to be able to experience this.
Thank you Verna!

“A few years back, my friend and I serendipitously found Verna when we were in the area looking for a campsite, I’ll never forget it. I think she overheard us running out of options as the sun was going down 😅😅 well- luck was certainly on our side that day. Verna helped us navigate to her beautiful outdoor accommodation and we experienced camping INSIDE Monument Valley, she even made a campfire for us! We had the entire area to ourselves and got to experience the beauty of the reservation. Hard to put words to the peace and beauty of the experience, i remember it years later. So very grateful for her kindness and hospitality. I hope to one day come back!! Thank you for the memories we’ll never forget!🙌🩵”
